[ This is part 3 of a series on the nature and structure of reality beginning here ]
There is a universal field of energy that is the source of all existence. We all exist in this infinite sea of energy frequencies that form every object and all forms of life. Also known as the "void" and "oneness," in modern physics it is referred to as the quantum field.
It is the frequency of every object that determines the nature of its structure. This universal field of energy is recognized by many cultures and its knowledge dates back thousands of years. Both Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda are two examples of entire systems of healing based on an understanding of this energy and of the energy structure of the human body.
We all emit an overall frequency, as does every atom and molecule, every cell and tissue, organ and system within the body. The energy field that all living things emit is commonly known as the auric field (or "aura"). Some people can see this energy field, but most sense it unconsciously (for example, when you feel anger or tension in a room where people are arguing, or have a vague sense of somebody's personality before you have interacted with them).
With just a bit of practice, we can learn how to perceive both the universal field of energy and the human auric field.
The simplest way to perceive the universal field of energy is to either lie down or sit in a chair and begin to relax. Focus your gaze on a blank spot on the wall or ceiling (or on the sky if you are outside). If gazing at a wall, a pale or light color will initially be easier.
Begin to breathe deeply and rhythmically, letting your gaze soften. After a short time, you'll begin to see little shapes or squiggly patterns. They may be spots or tiny spheres that appear and disappear. As you continue to relax and breathe, in time you'll begin to experience a deep, rhythmic pulse. The pulse may cause the room to go from dark to light, dark to light with a type of energetic intensity. Relax and breathe into the experience.
The human body emits an auric energy field, and within this field there are embedded subtler fields of energy that govern different areas of the body's entire energy structure.
The auric field extends several feet from the body. It protects the body from harmful energies by filtering out unhealthy energies and energies it does not resonate with, and absorbing energies that are needed and which it does resonate with. When we feel excited, happy, optimistic, and self-assured, our auric field emanates frequencies matching this emotion and draws to us other people and situations matching this frequency. Likewise, when we feel depressed, unhappy, pessimistic, angry, or frustrated, people and situations which resonate to these frequencies will be drawn to us. This is the key to not only healing the body, but also understanding the creation mechanism of all circumstances we create in our life.
With a little bit of practice, everybody can learn to consciously see the aura with their naked eye, although some individuals are able to naturally perceive the aura without any practice or training. These individuals have expanded their sensory perception beyond their five physical senses. When we learn to physically see the aura, we too then begin the process of expanding our sensory perception and awareness, and the subtle information which the brain normally filters out will then become fully accessible to us.
Learning how to see your aura and the aura of those around you is easy! It can be learned by anyone within a very short period of time. To practice on yourself, all you will need is a relatively large mirror through which you can see at least the upper half of your body.
Continue for as long as you feel comfortable. At first, you may only see a small, thin rim of white energy surrounding your body. Or you may see a thick bright light, or you may see one or more colors. With practice, you will find that your ability to see this energy will grow with each practice session. You will also find that you become able to see these colors when perceived directly instead of only out of your peripheral vision.
The auric field emanating from your body also emanates from within all life forms. Practice the above exercise with a plant or a pet and you will perceive it. A clear, bright auric field indicates a vital and healthy organism, however, dullness, dark spots, and distorted energy patterns indicate a form of distress or disease is present. This may or may not present as physiological or physical symptoms in the body, but in time, if the distortions within the energy pattern are not corrected, they typically manifest in some form of ill health.
Within various cultures there exists different observations and interpretations and names for the different parts of the human energy field; however, each generally divides the aura into 7 different layers. Some cultures recognize more layers than others. These layers are connected to energy centers throughout the body (more commonly known as "chakras") and to a complex network of energy channels radiating out from these centers to different organs and systems within the body.
All 7 layers are located within the auric field and penetrate the physical body. Each layer of energy has its own distinct structure and energy pattern and is separated by a very fine, very thin layer of pure energy that has a type of fluidity to it. The best way to describe it is as a fine plasma energy that has a special type of glimmer to it. With each successive layer, the frequency of the energy is higher and the energy patterns become finer and more difficult to perceive.
The more you practice the above exercises, the more you will develop your ability to begin to see the separate and distinct layers of energy within the auric field. The more subtle energy layers are a little more difficult to perceive and typically require a deeper meditative state. I sometimes find it easier to perceive the finer layers with my eyes closed.
In the center of the body runs a channel of energy that flows out and around the body in a toroidal shape (see image below). The channel of energy emits a rotating torus field which is our connection to the source energy of all creation - pure consciousness. It looks like an apple with the body being the center of the apple core and the energy flowing around the body in a spiral motion.
The torus field is a portal from which we access other dimensional states of consciousness. We do this all the time in our dream state and when we lucid dream (becoming conscious within the dream state). When we experience altered states through meditation, plant medicine, and breathwork, our consciousness expands out through this portal so that we may experience and explore these higher dimensional states. We can consciously trigger these states by activating the pineal gland, the powerhouse of the 3rd eye energy center.
The pineal gland is a very special gland that acts as the gateway to many different types of energy activations. These activations give us the ability to experience the vast landscape of our multidimensional selves, achieving higher states of consciousness and higher dimensional communication.
In private sessions, I teach how to activate the energy centers of the body, and specifically the pineal gland.
As your ability to perceive energy becomes more fine-tuned and your level of awareness increases, you will begin to perceive the toroidal flow of energy around your body. There are two energy currents that form this torus and these two currents spiral in a synchronous union that are called the earthly and heavenly flows.
The "EARTHLY" flow runs UP through the central channel of the body, out of the top of the head, down around the outside of the body to return up through the feet of the body. The "CELESTIAL" flow comes into the top of the head and flows DOWN the central channel of the body, out of the feet, up and around the outside of the body to flow back into the crown.
Each of the 7 layers of energy emanating from the body are associated with 7 major energy centers that are located within the center of the body. These centers, or chakras, look like spinning funnels. The top crown energy centers points upwards and the bottom root energy center points downwards. The energy centers between them project out through the front and back of the body. There are many other energy centers located throughout the rest of the body, but we will be exploring on the 7 major centers and their impact on the human body. This is because they govern the major organs and systems of the body.
A recent technology called Cymatics has given us the ability to physically see what these energy centers look like. Through focusing sound vibrations on these energy centers, we are now able to see their beautiful and highly complex geometric structures.
Continue the journey of unfolding by moving on to the next article to learn more about the 7 energy centers and how they not only create the structure of our physical body, but how they are also responsible for the projection of either health or illness within the body.
